Barbara K. Burton (MS OTR/L, RYT), Inner Child Yoga Owner/Operator, Yoga Instructor, Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

A Sandy Hook, CT resident and mother of three young children, Barbie has been in practice as an OT for over 20 years, and has been teaching yoga for 12 years. She graduated from Columbia University with a Master’s of Science in 1996 and specializes in sensory processing disorders and brain-based therapy.

Barbie has had her own OT practice since 2004, and most recently established an OT program at a private school.  Early on, she introduced yoga into her practice as a vehicle for siblings of clients with special needs to join in the process and enjoy an activity together. She began teaching yoga classes as a volunteer at her children’s preschools and, since 2013, has been leading yoga groups with students at Sandy Hook School, including her own kids who go to school there.

In addition to her services as a yoga instructor, OT, and now the owner/operator of Inner Child Yoga, Barbie is also currently on the faculty of Stretch What Matters Yoga for Children with Special Needs. Her talent as a yoga instructor, and knowledge of the central nervous system, sensory processing strategies, and the body/brain connection, allow her to provide an extraordinary yoga experience for children of all ages and abilities.

Eliza Hoffman, (RYT 200 Hours) Yoga Instructor

Eliza was born and raised in New England on Long Island Sound, she was introduced to yoga as a preteen, tagging along with her Mom and older sisters to classes.  She's gravitated to it ever since, practicing for 20 years and getting her 200 RYT in 2016, with a Yoga Alliance registered school.  She began to integrate yoga into her preschool curriculum.  She realized through classroom experience the importance of the body mind connection and the relationship between yoga and self regulation.  Teaching these skills early on has an impact on self management subsequently improving the quality life. She moved to Newtown 20 years ago with her Husband and two young children.  When she's not with family and friends, she goes to school at a local Community College working towards her degree, enjoys practicing yoga, walking and reading.
